Poseidon, the God of seas, horses, rivers, floods, drought, and earthquakes.
The Trojan War
Poseidon helped Odysseus through the Trojan War and played a major role in the Greek’s victory. He did this by convincing the Trojan to take the Trojan horse into the city. When the Trojans went out to inspect the horse Laocoon, a Trojan Prophet, was unsure of the offering. Poseidon then sent a sea monster to come out of the water and eat the prophet. This convinced the Trojans that Laocoon had angered the gods and they should take the horse into the city. After the war, Poseidon was infuriated with Odysseus for not giving him credit. Poseidon did not want to kill Odysseus he wanted to torture him and make him suffer. Therefore, he made Odysseus’s journey home long and hard. Poseidon wanted Odysseus to learn that without the Gods man would be nothing.

The Sending of The Sea Monster
Poseidon sent The Ketos Troias (a gigantic sea monster) to the city of Troy as punishment for King Laomedon's refusal to pay him for the building of the city's walls. The only way to get rid of the creature was to offer the king's daughter as sacrifice. Laomedon did so, chaining Hesione to the rocks. Here, she was rescued by Herakles who killed the Ketos Troias with a volley of arrows.
